Weekend Trip!

Salt Lake City Public Library
Salt Lake City Public LibrarySalt Lake City Public LibrarySo I decided that instead of my cathedrals I would go to the Library. Mostly because my roomie is wanting to come with me!! And she had to stay home and do her homework!
I got to tell you though the library is HUGE!! Yeah, I know I said that about the snowflakes to, but come on I am from Fallon, Nevada and this Library was I think three or four floors!
So while I was there I decided to get my library card!! So I have it except when I go back next I have to show proof of residency! Which I have not completely figured that out! I am thinking contract from my housing.

I am very excited to know where the library is and cannot wait until I check out a book or something. Well Lots of Love.

Attraction #4

After seeing the Brigham Young Monument I still felt like I had enough time to go see the next attraction on my list which was the Capitol Theatre. I did not actually go inside the theatre, but I got some decent pictures of the outside.
When I was done here I was feeling a little chilly so I decided to take the TRAX back to the apartment. TRAX is like a bus system or a train. It was a lot of fun. Now I am ready for Sunday.

The monument of Brigham young was erected in honor of the man who brought the pioneers to the Salt Lake Valley.
This monument was just down the street from my apartment. It is number 3 on my attractions list. I actually had to walk past this to get to the beehive house last week!
On another note I have a new roommate. Her name is Jessica Johnson. She moved here from Idaho Falls, her family moved to Logan at the same time. So she is not to far from her family!

Beehive House

Ok so far I am keeping my promise to go and see at least one attraction every week. Last week when I first got here I was able to go to the Beehive house I had some sister missionaries show me around which was fun! It was kind of fast going usually they have a whole group of people to take through, but when I went it was just me. The Beehive house was built by Brigham Young when they moved to the Salt Lake Valley. His family lived there! It was added upon by his son John Young (The name could be wrong). Three prophets lived in that house including Brigham Young himself. (Sorry I can't remember who they were. One might have been George Albert Smith?) Alot of the things in the house were original to the house or original to the time period of Brigham Young. When they traveled across the plains one thing that Brigham brought with him was his Carpentry Tools. And the original tools still reside in the house to this day! Here are some pictures I will try to tell you what they are.

Doorknob can you see the bee? And the Hive at the top?Door to the Beehive house
I think that these could be the original steps to the beehive house I could be wrong since no one actually told me but they do have Brigham Youngs initals and the year about the house was built!
I guess the Young's had a store inside their house that anyone could go to and get things. Including the Indians!

I do not ever remember being told that the Young's had a store. I remember Joseph Smith having some stores, but not Brigham.
The Kitchen of the Young house the missionaries told me that alot happened in this room no one ever left the Young home hungry.

Toys from the time period. They looked awesome!
Light fixture.
Music was important to the saints. It was also important to the Youngs they had a room just for music.

The front Panoramic view of the Beehive house this picture wasnt very good I had a limited area to work with. Sorry that some of the pictures were sideways. I tried to fix them, but it just got messy. Well I hope you liked my small tour of the Beehive house they showed alot more, but we were moving so fast I didn't get many pictures of the inside.
Lots of love and Hugs from Afar,
Meagan

Moved!

Ok so this year I have decided that I will be much better at blogging mostly for those I love back at home. Well I have finially moved. I am living in the Plaza Hotel in Salt Lake City. Please do not send letters or anything to just the Plaza if you need my address you can ask me or my Mommy!
I will be attending LDS Business College going for an associates in Medical Administration which will take me about two years to complete.
I have one roomate her name is Annalize she is from Bolivia. (I might have spelled her name wrong!) I might try to post a picture of her later! She is very awesome!
So other than doing better at my blogging I have decided that on either Friday or Saterday I will leave my books behind and explore the downtown Salt Lake City.
